MEMORY GAME

Memory Game (aka Concentration) is the perfect game to find out if the students can answer their own questions and if they can handle positive and negative statements.

DECIDING THE TARGET LANGUAGE

1. The teacher decides:  For example: Do you like to ____ ?

2. The students decide the TL for each card themselves. (advanced)

3. Use the Color Coded Cards (explain the TL for each color if needed)

SET UP

1. Select two sets of identical Topic cards you want to review. For example 10 pink and 10 blue cards.

2. Shuffle the cards and put them in a 4 by 5 grid face down on the table.

HOW TO PLAY

1. Player 1 turns over a card and uses the TL.

2. Next, player 1 turns over a second card.

If the second card is a match, player 1 answers: Yes, I do and takes both cards.

If it’s not a match, player 1 says: No, I don't and turns both cards over again, face down.

3. The players take turns until all the cards are gone.

The player with the most cards wins the game....

With younger students, making teams is good way to avoid "losers". Two or three players per team works best. Just make sure that members of the same team are not seated next to each other....
